Mined Land Reclamation Specialist 1
Job Description:
A Mined Land Reclamation Specialist 1 is responsible for the regulation of the mining industry under the Mined Land Reclamation Law, State Environmental Quality Review Act, and Uniform Procedures Act. Duties include performing complex technical and environmental reviews on mining and reclamation plans and procedures, investigating complaints, approving or denying reclamation work, performing on-site inspections, and maintaining the mined land reclamation program database and files.
Job Qualifications:
A bachelor's or higher-level degree in agriculture, agronomy, botany, environmental or natural sciences, forestry, geography, geology, horticulture, landscape architecture, or mining; or in agricultural, chemical, civil, environmental, mining, petroleum, or geological engineering. AND one year of professional experience in mining* and/or reclamation of land.
* "mining" means the extraction of minerals other than oil, gas, or solution salt
Licenses:
These positions require travel. Candidates must possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State or otherwise demonstrate their capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.
Salary:
Employees progress from the hiring rate to the job rate in annual increments during the first seven years of satisfactory service.
Work Location:
These positions exist in the Department of Environmental Conservation in various locations statewide.

Promotional opportunities are available through competitive examination and satisfactory experience to Mined Land Reclamation Specialist 2.
