DEC collects a large amount of data while carrying out its mission of protecting human health and the environment. Monitoring, permitting, and inspection records, wildlife and habitat data, and other forms of information are entered into databases which are used by DEC employees to make better environmental decisions. Some databases contain information which changes frequently and for which timeliness is important. When possible, these will be made available online through a database search so that the public who use this information to make personal or professional decisions will have the best information available.
