Sign Requirements for Stores
All dealers must post the "New York Bottle Bill of Rights" sign conspicuously at the point of sale. Point of sale can be: customer service area or the cash register area. This sign must be at least 8" x 10", with print at least ¼" in size in a color which contrasts with the background color.
All dealers must post at each redemption area a "Redemption Warning" sign warning that there is a penalty for returning containers on which a deposit was never paid in New York. The print on this sign must be at least 1" in size. Compliance with the print size requires this sign to be printed on a paper size of 11" x 17".
A dealer that is at least 40,000 square feet that is not required to use reverse vending machines must post a sign at each public entrance describing where the redemption area is located. This sign must be at least 8" x 10", with print at least ¼" in size in a color which contrasts with the background color.
If the dealer chooses to limit the number of containers accepted to 72 containers per person per day and meets the requirements listed above, they must post two permanent signs in a conspicuous location. Both signs must be at least 8" x 10", with print of at least ¼" in size and in a color which contrasts with a background color.
Sign 1 Identification of their affiliated redemption center and the redemption centers hours.
Sign 2 Identification of the stores 2 hour period when they will accept up to 240 containers per redeemer, per day. Any change in this time period requires posting a notice for thirty days.
