Projects Eligible for ERP Funding
Eligible projects are those which have been the subject of an environmental investigation under the New York State Environmental Restoration Program and have a DEC-issued Record of Decision (ROD) for the site. The project's purpose must be to implement the ROD, or the ROD as subsequently modified based on new information in accordance with DER-2, Making Changes to Selected Remedies.
Who May Apply
The purpose of this program is to provide grants to municipalities for the investigation and remediation of municipally owned properties. For the purposes of this grant program, the following entities are considered eligible applicants: Municipalities as defined by ECL §56-0502(5) and Municipalities acting in partnership with community-based organizations as defined by ECL §56-0101(15).
Requirements to Apply
New York State is transitioning grantmaking activities from the Grants Gateway to the Statewide Financial System (SFS). SFS is a statewide initiative to make it easier for grantees to apply for and receive funding. All applicants must apply through SFS. This includes answering all program questions and uploading completed and required program documents and forms. Paper applications are not accepted.
A Municipality potentially interested in applying for an ERP Grant should visit the SFS Transition website (link leaves DEC's website) and become familiar with the new statewide SFS web-based grants management system.
An Applicant must be Registered in the SFS to submit an application to the ERP. An Application received from an otherwise qualifying Applicant that has not Registered in the SFS will not be considered or evaluated.
