Environmental Site Database Search

DEC's Division of Environmental Remediation offers access to its cleanup site and spill data in a searchable format. The following information is available:

Environmental Remediation Database Search - This is the main page from which the search applications launch. These databases are updated nightly.

Spill Incidents Database

This database contains records of chemical and petroleum spill incidents dating back to 1978.

Remedial Site Database

This database contains records of the sites being addressed under one of DER's remedial programs - State Superfund, Brownfield Cleanup, Environmental Restoration and Voluntary Cleanup.

Bulk Storage Database

This database contains records of facilities that are or have been regulated under one of the Bulk Storage Programs - Petroleum Bulk Storage, Chemical Bulk Storage and Major Oil Storage Facility.

Additional Mapping Resources

Site locations obtained from the Remedial Site or Bulk Storage databases can be downloaded as "KML" (Google Earth) files, and viewed as an interactive map. These files also be accessed at: NYS GIS Clearinghouse

DEC Remediation Site Boundaries - Downloadable GIS Files

Boundaries of sites in DEC's Remedial Programs (State Superfund, Brownfield Cleanup, Environmental Restoration and Voluntary Cleanup Programs) are also available as GIS Files (ESRI ArcGIS Shapefile format).

En-Zone Boundaries - Downloadable GIS Files

Boundaries of census tracts designated as En-Zones are available as GIS Files (ESRI ArcGIS Shapefile format) and "KMZ" (Google Earth) file format. Brownfield Cleanup Program sites located in designated En-Zones may be eligible for enhanced tax credits.
