Join the Washington County Youth Bureau, Public Health, and Federation of Sportsmen to participate in a free learn to fish clinic at Lake Lauderdale County Park on Saturday, February 7, 2026 during the annual Washington County Winterfest. Participants will learn the basics of ice fishing, including ice safety tips, techniques on how to fish through the ice, and different fish species to catch during the winter!
No freshwater fishing license or registration is required to participate. During the fishing clinic there will be loaner fishing rods and bait provided for participants to use.
The fishing clinic is one of several events scheduled during Winterfest to promote outdoor fun and activities. Events are weather dependent but generally include ice skating, sledding, ice fishing, canine demonstration, snow shoeing, snowmobile rides, horse and wagon rides, and free hot chocolate and chili!
