Participate in an all-ages, all-levels family friendly event to explore the sport of fishing through interactive hands-on instruction with the Gowanda Volunteer Fire Company, NYS DEC, Lake Erie Chapter of International Fly Fishers, and Bill’s Flies. This FREE clinic will take place at the Gowanda Volunteer Fire Department along Cattaraugus Creek on Saturday, May 2, 2026 starting at 10AM.
During the event, participants will learn about:
- The necessary gear including rods, reels, line, casting, knots, baits, etc.
- Fishing techniques for beginners, including fly fishing
- Tips on how to have the best success
- Fish ID and behaviors
- Water safety
Gear for participants: Borrow a fishing rod and tackle or bring your own. Bait will also be available.
Pre-registration is required (click below to register today!). Participants do not need a freshwater fishing license during the clinic.
