New York State Forest Data & Industry Reports
New York State's forests and forest industry are important parts of our economy. The directories and reports on this page include valuable data about forests and the industries associated with them. Both individual landowners as well as industry professionals can use this information to connect with local wood markets and better understand New York's forests.
Directories on this page are not exhaustive. Businesses in the New York City area are underrepresented, to the greatest extent, due to a low survey response rate. Paper copies are available by request. If you would like your business to be included in these directories or to update your companies information, please contact [email protected].

NYS Industrial Timber Harvest Production and Consumption Reports
Using survey data, this report summarizes the estimated industrial timber harvest production level from New York's forests, the consumption level of New York's primary wood processors, and the flow of harvested wood to/from New York.
Estimates reported for logs are conservative due to difficulties associated with estimating relatively small volumes of certain in-state and out of state/country consumption rates.
New York's Forest Data
The Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) Program provides an inventory of New York's forests. This report summarizes the continuing inventory of timber resources on 3,000 sample plots across all the state's forests conducted from 2011-2017. The report provides information on the status and trends of forest area, tree species, size, forest health, and many other important forest characteristics. These data allow us to evaluate current management practices and forest conditions.
