Notice of Acceptance of Draft EIS and Public Hearing
Sullivan County - The Town of Highland Planning Board, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Camp Fimfo Modernization and Improvement Project. A public hearing on the Draft EIS will be held on December 18, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at the Town of Highland Town Hall, 4 Proctor Road, Eldred, NY 12732 with an alternate venue at Eldred High School, 600 State Route 55, Eldred, NY 12732 -See Town Website for Updates. Written comments on the Draft EIS will be accepted until January 10, 2025. The action involves a proposal by the Applicant and Owner, Sun NG Kittatinny RV LLC, managed by Northgate Resorts and Sun Communities, for a site plan and special use permit approval from the Town of Highland Planning Board for improvements to an existing, seasonally-operated Recreational Vehicle (RV) campground (known as the Kittatinny Campgrounds and Canoes – Barryville Base). The campground is located amongst an approximately 235 ± acre site. The Project Site is split zoned between the H-C (Hamlet Commercial) and R-2 (Residential Agricultural) zoning districts. The project is located at 3854 NYS Route 97 in Town of Highland, New York.
