Negative Declaration
Westchester County - The Westchester County Board of Acquisition and Contract, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Westchester County Airport Runway 16/34 Rehabilitation will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves infrastructure improvements to Runway 16/34 as required by FAA regulations. Scope of work will include the replacement of runway edge and threshold lighting, runway centerline and touchdown zone fixtures, runway end blast pads, and signage. In addition, new 20-foot-wide paved shoulders will be added to each side of the runway to comply with FAA regulations for the County Airport's current design group (III). While the majority of the shoulders will be asphalt, pervious pavement will be used in areas where soil conditions are suitable and 40-foot-wide grass filter strips are proposed in some areas beyond the asphalt to minimize stormwater runoff. The project will also provide for the removal of Taxiway H, which will serve to offset the increase in impervious surfaces. The project is located 240 Airport Road in the Town of North Castle, Village of Rye Brook and Town/Village of Harrison, New York.
