The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) today announced the closure of the Main Haul Road on the South Colton Conservation Easement in the town of South Colton, St. Lawrence County, starting on May 24, to allow for a bridge replacement over Dead Creek.
The temporary bridge, installed in 2017, is being replaced by a permanent bridge as a cooperative project between DEC, Brookfield Renewable U.S., and Park Forestry LLC. A gate will be closed and locked on private property prior to the Haul Road's entry onto the conservation easement. The gate will be opened after the bridge installation is complete.
The temporary closure includes all public motorized and non-motorized access to the construction site. For additional information and questions, contact Henry Dedrick, Supervising Forester at DEC's Potsdam office, at 315-265-3090.
