The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) today announced the temporary closure of the Alma Pond Public Fishing Access Site in the town of Alma, Allegany County.
DEC will close the fishing access site, including the main parking area, car-top hand launch, and improved path off County Route 38, for site improvement work beginning on May 13. Shore fishing access and limited roadside pull-offs will still be available during the formal access site closure. Improvement work is anticipated to be completed in three to four weeks and the site is currently expected to reopen in June.
More information about the Alma Pond Fishing Access Site, as well as a list of alternative fishing access sites, can be found on DEC's website.
