Tucked away in seclusion a short way off the main tourist route, this "jewel" of a campground remains one of the best kept secrets in the Adirondacks. Brown Tract Pond Campground is located on the east shore of 146 acre Brown Tract Pond. The remote Adirondack setting of this facility offers a relaxing, quiet beauty all its own. The campsites offer privacy; they are large and well forested. Camping equipment from tents to 30' RVs can be accommodated. The campground offers a variety of recreational opportunities including: Canoeing and boating, fishing, hiking, and bicycling.

90 tent and trailer sites, picnic area with tables and fireplaces, flush toilets, trailer dump station, recycling center, and firewood sales.

Directions

From the NYS Thruway (I-90), Exit 31 at Utica; north on Rte. 12 to Alder Creek; Rte. 28 through the Village of Old Forge to Eagle Bay; turn left onto Uncas Road, 7 miles to Brown Tract Pond.

From Adirondack Northway (I-87), Exit 23 at Warrensburg; Rte. 9 north to Rte. 28 west through villages of Indian Lake, and Blue Mountain Lake to Raquette Lake Village; 2 miles northwest on dirt road.

Planning and Management

The Brown Tract Pont Unit Management Plan (UMP) (PDF) for the campground guides the DEC's land management activities at this facility for a five-year period, although a number of goals and objectives in the plan focus on a much longer time period.
