The primary purposes of Canoga Marsh Wildlife Management Area (WMA) are for wildlife management, wildlife habitat management, and wildlife-dependent recreation. This WMA covers 104 acres and is located on the northwest side of Cayuga Lake. There are no designated trails, but hiking is allowed throughout the property.

Cayuga Lake is stocked annually with lake trout, brown trout and Atlantic salmon. The lake also contains rainbow trout, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike, and chain pickerel. Canoga Creek, which runs through the property, is stocked with brook trout.

Shore fishing is allowed from the property and ice fishing is popular on the lake during winter.

Canoga Marsh WMA is located in Seneca Falls in the Town of Fayette. The property is off Route 89 on the northwest side of Cayuga Lake and is located at 42.863168°N, 76.748966°W Google Maps. There are no designated parking areas but roadside parking is available.

NOTE: Ticks are active whenever temperatures are above freezing, but especially so in the late spring and early fall. Deer ticks can transmit Lyme and several other diseases. More information on deer ticks and Lyme disease can be obtained from the NYS Department of Health.

How We Manage Canoga Marsh Wildlife Management Area

Like most of the state's Wildlife Management Areas, Canoga Marsh WMA is managed by DEC's Division of Fish and Wildlife for wildlife conservation and wildlife-associated recreation (hunting, trapping, wildlife viewing, and photography). Funding to maintain and manage this site is provided by the Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration or "Pittman-Robertson" Act, which is acquired through excise taxes on sporting arms, ammunition, and archery equipment.
