Great Sacandaga Lake is located in Fulton and Saratoga counties. The lake was created by the damming of the Sacandaga River to provide flood control and flow augmentation in the Hudson Valley and provides many recreational opportunities. The lake is one of the largest in the Adirondack region, and because of its size, there are many different types of fish to meet any anglers desire. The New York State record for Northern Pike (46 lb. 2 oz.) was caught here in 1940.
