Aquatic Plant Life:
The Bay's shoreline and southern end are shallow with extensive beds of submersed, floating, and emergent aquatic vegetation. The nuisance invasive submergent Eurasian Watermilfoil and Curly-leaf Pondweed have been found in the Bay.
Access:
Shoreline access within Monroe County's Irondequoit Bay Parks East and West, The Town of Penfield's LaSalle's Landing Park on Empire Boulevard, and NYS OPRHP Irondequoit Bay Marine Park. Concrete launch with parking for 28 cars/trailers is located in NYS OPRHP Irondequoit Bay Marine Park on Culver Road and NYS Route 590, which is operated by Monroe County.

Fish Species:
Bowfin, Northern Pike, Chain Pickerel, Channel Catfish, Brown Bullhead, Rock Bass, Pumpkinseed, Bluegill, Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, Black Crappie, Walleye, Yellow Perch.
Fishing:
From 1993 to 1998, Irondequoit Bay was annually stocked with fingerling Walleyes. Since 2003, the stocking policy calls for bi-annual plantings of fingerling Walleyes. Assessment surveys have shown that these stocked fingerlings survive and grow to produce a good adult Walleye population. There is excellent Yellow Perch and good Northern Pike fishing through the ice when safe ice develops. In most years, the early spring fishing for Yellow Perch, Brown Bullhead, and White Perch can be outstanding. Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, Northern Pike, Chain Pickerel, Sunfish, and Yellow Perch can be caught during the open water season. Troll for Walleyes in the spring, especially at night. A spinnerbait or stickbait, like a rapala, works well in shallow weedy water, for the gamefish. For the panfish try worms fished under a bobber or small plastic tube baits or twister tails.
Ice Fishing:
Ice Fishing is permitted on Irondequoit Bay.
