Long Pond is a small, shallow lake located in Chenango County near the Hamlet of Smithville Flats. Long Pond is part of the 3,250 acre Long Pond State Forest area. A former state record, 29 lbs. 3 oz., tiger musky was caught through the ice here in 1983.

Very abundant rooted aquatic vegetation throughout the pond with most of the pond being vegetated except a narrow channel in the middle of the pond.

Off Route 41, 3 miles northwest of the Hamlet of Smithville Flats. Concrete Ramp. Parking for 10 cars and trailers. 25 horsepower motor restriction.

Fish Species:
Chain pickerel, tiger musky, largemouth bass, black crappie, pumpkinseed sunfish, bluegill, and yellow perch.
Fishing:
Long Pond is a very popular ice fishing location for chain pickerel and panfish. Largemouth bass are abundant but tend to be on the small side, however, a few fish in the 20-inch range are caught each year. Weedless lures are recommended as the pond is heavily vegetated.
