Fishing:
The lower Esopus Creek has both smallmouth and largemouth bass. Anglers have reported having success catching smallmouth along the rocks on the upper reaches of this section using crankbaits and tube jigs. Anglers targeting the largemouth report of having success catching them out of the grass beds and fallen timber along the banks using top water frogs and texas-rigged worms.
Carp are very abundant and anglers report of catching fish up to 20 lbs. Anglers like to target carp using nightcrawlers, canned corn and doughballs. Try fishing shallow in the spring and move to deeper water in the summer months.
