Access:
Across from the DEC Lake Placid boat launch site on Route 86 or Mirror Lake Drive in the village of Lake Placid. DEC maintains a hand launch that is a 50 yard carry to dock at Mirror Lake from the parking area. Only electric motors are permitted.

Fishing:
The lake is best known as a rainbow trout fishery, but offers some exceptional lake trout within deeper waters during the summer. It is best to use a flashy lure or bait fish. The spring Hexagenia hatch (large mayflies) can offer good fly fishing opportunities for rainbow trout. Great smallmouth bass fishing can also be enjoyed in the early morning or late evening.
