Quaker Pond is a unique glacially formed pond. It has fairly steep sided, rocky shorelines which limit aquatic vegetation to shallow areas near the shoreline. These shallow areas contain a rich mixture of native aquatic plants.
Access:
Shoreline access within Monroe County's Mendon Ponds Park, located on NYS Route 65.
Fish Species:
Northern Pike, Chain Pickerel, Brown Bullhead, Rock Bass, Pumpkinseed, Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Black Crappie, Yellow Perch.
Fishing:
There is sunfish and yellow perch fishing through the ice when safe ice develops. Largemouth bass, chain pickerel, brown bullhead, sunfish, and yellow perch can be caught during the open water season. A spinnerbait or stickbait, like a Rapala, works well in shallow weedy water for the gamefish. For the panfish try worms fished under a bobber or small plastic tube baits or twister tails.
Ice Fishing:
Ice fishing is permitted on Quaker Pond.
