Largemouth bass and northern pike are the most common gamefish in Red Lake with largemouths up to 20" commonly reported and pike up to 25" fairly common. Black crappie over 12" are available and, for a change of pace, legal size chain pickerel are present. Walleye abundance is quite variable, but walleye over 20" are not unusual. Red Lake is stocked with small walleye fingerlings. The lake is also directly connected to the Indian River, which has a robust, natural walleye population.
