Chain Pickerel, Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, Pumpkinseed, Brown Bullhead, Yellow Perch, Carp, Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout.
It contains the usual Long Island assortment of resident warmwater species (see list above) and, in addition, it is stocked with trout to provide seasonal fishing opportunities in the cooler months. Southards Pond regularly yields large yellow perch to early season anglers.
Thanks to the undeveloped parkland surrounding the pond, it is a scenic refuge. Wading is easy on the south end of the pond but can be treacherous on the north end due to the soft bottom.
