The 585-acre Wolf Brook Multiple Use Area features 1.9 miles of trails and unpaved roads. Wolf Brook Multiple Use Area is adjacent to the Neversink River Unique Area.

There are fishing opportunities on the Wolf Pond Brook and Mullet Brook, both of which are tributaries of the Neversink River.

There are additional stream fishing sites on the Neversink River. Fish species include brook trout, brown trout and rainbow trout. Southeastern NY Fishing provides information on fishing in the area and links to top fishing waters, stocking lists, public fishing access and waters open to ice fishing listed by county.

General information on hiking includes how-to and safety tips and links to rules and regulations.

The two trails, Wolf Brook Road and Powerline Road, are wide and relatively flat. These trails are open to hiking, horseback riding, cross-country skiing and biking.

  • Power Line Road is a 0.7-mile trail on an unpaved road over flat terrain.
  • Wolf Brook Woods Road is a 1.2-mile trail on an unpaved over flat terrain.

There are no designated campsites; however, at-large primitive camping is allowed. Campsites must be at least 150 feet away from the nearest road, trail, or body of water. Camping for more than three nights or in groups of ten or more requires a permit from a Forest Ranger.

Hunting is allowed during appropriate seasons. White-tailed deer and black bears are popular game species in the area. Many species of small game and furbearers are also found in the area and surrounding landscape. Turkeys, grouse, squirrels, beaver, fox and coyote are just a few of the game species available for hunters, trappers and wildlife enthusiasts.

All users of Wolf Brook Multiple Use Area must follow all State Land Use Regulations and should follow all Outdoor Safety Practices for the safety of the user and protection of the resource.

Specific Rules

Snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, mountain biking, snowmobiling and horseback riding are allowed within the property but there are no designated trails or maintained areas for these activities.

DEC manages these lands in accordance with the management activities described in the Neversink River Unit Management Plan (PDF) and the September 2013 Amendment to the Plan (PDF). In addition to management objectives, the UMP contains detailed information on natural features, recreational infrastructure, geology, natural & human history, habitats, wildlife, fisheries and much more.
