Chemical Bulk Storage (CBS) Facility Registration | Registration is required for all underground tanks, and for above-ground stationary tanks of 185 gallons or greater capacity, that store hazardous substances listed in 6NYCRR Part 597 or mixture thereof. Registration is not required for non-stationary tanks. Out-of-service tanks must be registered until they are permanently closed in accordance with NYSDEC regulations. Process tanks, assembly line tanks, aboveground farm tanks, and certain other tanks (see 6NYCRR Part 596.1(b) & (c)(53)) do not have to be registered. |

Major Oil Storage Facility License | A license to operate is required for oil terminals with a combined storage capacity of 400,000 gallons or more and transport vessels operating in the waters of the State, when petroleum is transferred between vessels. A vessel transferring petroleum to an on-shore terminal does not otherwise require a license. | |
Petroleum Bulk Storage Facility Registration | Registration is required for all petroleum storage tanks at a facility (property) that meet any of the following criteria (see registration fee worksheet for details). : a) Underground (larger than 110 gallons and more than 10% underground); used to store petroleum (other than heating oil used on-site), and the site is not a farm or a residence. b) Combined storage capacity of all petroleum storage tanks (not including heating oil tanks less than 1100 gallons or farm/residential non-retail motor fuel tanks 1,100 gallons or smaller)is greater than 1,100 gallons c) Tank used to store used oil. Registration is not required for non-stationary tanks. Out-of-service tanks must be registered until they are permanently closed in accordance with NYSDEC regulations. If the facility is located in Nassau, Suffolk, Rockland, Westchester, or Cortland counties, refer to Bulk Storage Program Regional Contacts, and call the appropriate county agency to obtain information regarding registration requirements and application form and instructions. |

Liquefied Natural Gas Facility Permit | Permits are required for facilities who store Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) or convert LNG into natural gas through vaporization.
