Note: If you are a resident of New York State, you do not qualify for reciprocity; however, you may qualify to take the certification exam. Please refer to the Pesticide Applicator/Technician Information page in the left hand column for further instruction.
Reciprocal licenses are for initial pesticide applicator certification only. If the individual has ever held a pesticide certification in New York in the past, they do not qualify for reciprocity. In addition, reciprocal licenses can only be issued to certified pesticide applicators that reside in the state they are seeking reciprocity from. For example, an applicator living in New Jersey holding pesticide applicator certification in Connecticut would not be eligible for reciprocity.
DEC has reciprocity agreements with the following states:
- Connecticut (CT);
- Indiana (IN);
- New Jersey (NJ);
- Ohio (OH);
- Pennsylvania (PA);
- Rhode Island (RI);
- Vermont (VT).
Use the chart below to determine which New York pesticide certification category(ies) you are eligible to apply for by finding the category(ies) you are currently Certified in under your home state and follow that row across to the left to see which category number(s) you will want to request on your New York State reciprocity application.
