Proposed Municipal Solid Waste Processing Facility
Rensselaer Resource Recovery, LLC applied for an Air State Facility permit and a Solid Waste Management permit, proposing to construct and operate a Municipal Solid Waste Processing Facility with an annual throughput up to 150,000 tons. The proposed location is at 36 Riverside Avenue, within the Port of Rensselaer. The facility is designed to process municipal solid waste using a high efficiency mechanical-biological treatment technology to produce a solid recovered fuel that is an EPA-approved marketable commodity substitute for coal. The facility is designed to remove recyclable material from the waste stream prior to producing the solid recovered fuel product. All processing of materials will occur inside a building under negative pressure. There will be no storage of any materials outside.

State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination
This project is a Type I action and, as determined by the City of Rensselaer Planning Commission, which served as lead agency under SEQR, will not have a potentially significant adverse effect on the environment. A negative declaration is on file with the City of Rensselaer Planning Commission.

No registered, eligible or inventoried archeological or historic sites were identified at the project location.
