Adopted Amendments To 6 NYCRR 703.4, Site-Specific Enterococcus Water Quality Standards For Class I/SD Waters
Effective October 6, 2021 upon publication in the State Register, the New York Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) amended sections 703.4 of Title 6 of the Official Compilation of Codes, Rules, and Regulations of the State of New York (6 NYCRR). The adopted rule making adds site-specific criteria to select Class I and Class SD waterbodies. The new criteria use enterococcus as a fecal indicator bacteria.
This rule making was proposed on January 20, 2021. The public comment period was open from January 20, 2021 through April 28, 2021. A Public Hearing was held on March 23, 2021 via electronic webinar.
