The eastern Adirondacks and Lake Champlain have a great diversity of fisheries: Adirondack brook trout ponds, blue ribbon trout streams, and warm water lakes and rivers. To manage these abundant resources, DEC's Region 5 Fisheries Unit conducts various fisheries surveys. The reports on this page will help provide a greater in depth look at the fisheries resources and how they are managed.

Interagency Management Coordination
New York's Region 5 Fisheries Unit collaborates with the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department and the Northeast Region of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service through the Lake Champlain Fish and Wildlife Management Cooperative to coordinate management of fish populations within Lake Champlain, and to contribute to inter-agency plans and reports that describe and evaluate the status of fish stocks in this water system.
2024 State of the Lake Champlain Fisheries
