Join us on Saturday, June 13th, 2026!
DEC and State Parks, in partnership with the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), the Office of the Chief Disability Officer, the Department of Veterans’ Services, the Office of Mental Health, and the Justice Center for the Protection of People With Special Needs, will host free events across the state to connect people to nature and provide increased access to the outdoors. Get Outdoors & Get Together Day brings together people of all abilities, ages, identities, and backgrounds for fun, guided, and free outdoor activities as part of the Governor's initiative to broaden the diversity of users and ensure inclusive access to state public lands.
New York's Get Outdoors & Get Together Day is held on the second Saturday in June, and coincides with National Get Outdoors Day, an annual event to encourage active outdoor fun. Try fishing, archery, kayaking, bird watching, hiking and so much more at one of our many locations across the state!
Scroll down for a look at our 2026 event locations and activities at each site. All locations will offer a selection of accessible activities, and use of adaptive equipment and demonstrations will be provided at many sites. Please contact the site you are interested in directly for specifics on available adaptive equipment and programming. Guests are encouraged to bring their own water, snacks, and sunscreen.
