Bear Mountain State Park is situated in rugged mountains rising more than 1,200 feet above the west bank of the Hudson River, about 45 miles north of New York City. From September through November, many species of migrating hawks can be seen above Bear Mountain. Visitors can see marsh birds, waterfowl, warblers and shorebirds.
This NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation site has some accessible features, including a nature trail, a half-mile wheelchair accessible trail, boat rentals, museums and ice skating. A full list of DEC's accessible recreation destinations is available on the DEC website.
