Nissequogue River State Park
Kings Park, Suffolk Co.
This park is on the migratory path of a high diversity of bird species, particularly warblers, songbirds and wading birds, and contains a bird conservation area. From mid-July through mid-October, each evening, exactly at dusk, more than 100 egrets descend into the trees around the pond and along the river, making a piercing racket in the trees as they jockey for a roosting site for the night.
