Sapsucker Woods

Perhaps you'll see the yellow-bellied sapsucker among the more than 225 bird species recorded in these famous woods on the grounds of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.

Wildlife to Watch

• Coopers and sharp-shinned hawks, kestrels
• American gold finches, scarlet tanagers, ruby-throated hummingbird, warblers
• Yellow-bellied sapsuckers, downy and pileated woodpeckers, blue jays, cardinals
• Great blue herons, green herons, mallards, hooded mergansers, wood ducks, Canada geese
• White-tailed deer, minks, muskrats, red squirrels, chipmunks, little brown bats and big brown bats
• Green frogs, bull frogs, snapping turtles and eastern painted turtles, brown garter snakes
